The Worcestershire Young Carers service (WYC) exists to support young people who have a care role out home and we do this in 3 key ways. we offer opportunities for young people to take a break from their care role, meet other young carers and have fun at the same time as helping them build their confidence, and learn new things. we work with other organisations (such as school) to ensure that young carers are building the best possible lives for themselves and they are actively working towards a positive future. A child’s responsibilities at home should not stop them achieving. Our staff and volunteers work one-one with our most vulnerable young people to support them to be emotionally well and successful. we raise awareness of the issues that young carers face. Locally, we talk to school staff and other children and families workers to ensure they are skilled around how to support young carers. Our Young Carers Participation Group enhances this by giving our young carers a voice to discuss issues that affect them.
