News Become a volunteer Volunteers and the ethos and values that volunteering brings to YSS are hugely important to us. We aim to provide the highest standards of training and support to the volunteers that work alongside YSS and value the extra dimension and diversity they bring to our work. Currently YSS has around 120 volunteers involved in a range of different roles within the organisation, and also has an enthusiastic team of Volunteer Coordinators who are responsible for recruiting and supporting our volunteers across the region. There are many reasons and benefits to becoming a volunteer at YSS. As well as providing a valuable service to our clients, volunteering can open doors to employment by helping you to build skills and experience, give a sense of worth and be a way of meeting like-minded and motivated people. Some people volunteer because they 'want to give something back', others because they themselves have faced issues in the past that our clients are facing. It can also be challenging but, above all, extremely rewarding. It can make a huge difference to our clients if they know someone is motivated and cares enough to offer their time for free.
