What is Employment Support Programme (ESP)?

ESP offers practical and emotional support for those aged 18 plus who are in, or at risk of being in, the criminal justice system with mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression in order to break down barriers towards employability (real or perceived) and move them closer towards sustainable employment. The overarching aim of the project, delivered in Worcester and Telford,  is addressing the challenges faced by people in becoming work ready through group and one-to-one support, specialist mental health interventions, and job-search support.

How does ESP work?

What we do for each person depends on their individual needs. We offer a ‘pick and mix’ menu of support on a 10 week rolling programme that could include computer skills training; how to go about finding work or how to put together a convincing CV. We can also offer job interview training and practice. We offer group sessions, drop-in job club and one to one sessions providing a range of emotional and practical support for those furthest away from employment with mental health issues such as depression, stress or anxiety. The group sessions include Moodmaster for emotional wellbeing.  The job club will look at job search, interview skills, and disclosure workshops. The one to one sessions will look at IT skills, digital training and more intensive support around training and employability. There will also be one to one appointments with the specialist mental health worker

What difference does ESP make?

Hear what real people say

YSS has really helped me with my CV and criminal record disclosure statement and has given me the confidence in looking to apply for voluntary work.  It is a friendly environment and fun as well. The staff are very professional whilst still putting clients at ease.

The staff are patient and understanding and the project is sculpted to the individual.

Fantastic! Amazing support! If it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t be working and I love working! I would be asleep in bed. You gave me the kick up the bum I needed.

I have enjoyed coming to this group, learning new things, meeting new people, listening to the guest speakers and passing Mental Health first aid.

Going to miss the group, but happy to say I have gained a lot.

I mostly enjoyed the Moodmasters with Susie, it releases stress and makes you feel relaxed and open to yourself.
