YSS recently received a very generous donation from Telford manufacturing company, Denso, as the firm celebrated its 25th anniversary by choosing its ninth local charity to support.

As part of the company’s long term Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy of making a difference to local people and the environment, the kind-hearted company already supports eight charities, and asked its workforce to vote during December and January to decide which charity should become the ninth.

YSS was nominated alongside Age UK and Confide, and although didn’t win, still received a whopping £2,500 from the company. The money will be used to support marginalised people in communities across Shropshire and Telford, including families who need support, young people aged seven – 25 who help to care for a sibling or parent, and young people and adults within the criminal justice system.

Lorraine Preece, Chief Executive at YSS, said: “On behalf of everyone at YSS I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Denso for donating such an incredible amount to the charity.

"I was overwhelmed to learn that we had been nominated. All of our work is about supporting and empowering people to make positive choices and have better lives, and this amazing donation will help us to continue to deliver vital support services to some of the most marginalised people in society. Thank you.”
