Droitwich Lions recently donated hundreds of pounds to support young carers in Worcestershire, following a fundraising ukulele concert held at Droitwich Working Mens Club in November last year.

The generous group are regular supporters of YSS, which has been successfully delivering the Worcestershire Young Carers service since 2003, having previously donated £500 to the charity.

Andy Best and Bill Phillips from Droitwich Lions visited Neil Phillips, Worcestershire Young Carers Service Coordinator, and David King, Worcestershire Young Carers Education Link Worker, to deliver the cheque in person.

Lorraine Preece, Chief Executive at YSS, said: “We are delighted to once again receive such generous funding from Droitwich Lions.

“It’s fantastic to be supported by a local organisation and their support is invaluable to the charity, and in particular to the 420 young carers we support across the county.

“The money will be used to help pay for a wide variety of activities for young carers this summer, including a visit to the seaside, and will also be put towards the Young Carers Festival taking place in June. Activities like these provide the rare chance to take a break from caring responsibilities, socialise with peers and have some fun, and are only made possible thanks to kind hearted donations such as this generous gift from Droitwich Lions.”
