Droitwich Lions Ladies recently donated £250 to support young carers in Worcestershire.

Jon Cawdron, YSS Worcestershire Young Carers project coordinator, attended a cheque presentation at the Lions Book Sale on Saturday 7 July at St Andrews Parish Centre. Jon met with members of the club to accept the cheque on behalf of YSS, an independent charity that has delivered Worcestershire Young Carers since 2003.

Rosalind Wallis, a member of the charitable group, said: “Droitwich Lions Ladies have supported Worcestershire Young Carers for a number of years and are delighted to be able to continue raising money on behalf of young carers in the county.”

Worcestershire Young Carers supports more than 450 young carers across Worcestershire every year. The service provides assessment, one-to-one support and signposting to children and young people aged seven to 25 who have a caring role at home.Jon added: “It was a pleasure to meet Ros and other members of the club, and we’re extremely grateful for their generous donation. The money will be used to help provide a range of activities for young carers to enjoy, like horse riding, ice skating and fishing.”

A young carer who attends the young carers clubs commented: “I love going on trips and activities. It’s really fun getting the chance to try new things and we always have a great time! I’m really grateful that people have chosen to donate to Worcestershire Young Carers, as it means we get to have the chance to go on fun trips and have a break with our friends.”
